Cathy Jane (Ellis) Savell

Cathy J. (Ellis) Savell Ossining, NY - Cathy Jane (Ellis) Savell, 52, of Croton-on-Hudson, NY, passed away peacefully at home on November 16, 2011.  Devoted mother of Harrison (Harry) and Jack Savell; loving wife of Lawrence; beloved sister of Thomas Ellis of Kittery, ME, and Karen Blaney, of Vernon, CT; treasured daughter of William and Jane Ellis of Athol, MA; and consummate aunt of Benjamin, Katie, William, and Leah. Catherine had multiple successful careers in her life.   From 1983 to 2004, she served as Managing Director of Global Travel Services, creating and managing the in-house travel department for Bear Stearns and Co.  Then, as a mother beginning in 2000 and 2001, she focused her efforts on her magnificent two boys, of whom she was supremely proud.  Returning to school, Catherine graduated Cum Laude in 2008 with a B.S. in Teaching Students with Disabilities from Fordham University, and thereafter worked as a Substitute Teacher and Private Tutor.  Throughout her adult life, she did extensive volunteer work, particularly to benefit children and the poor.  Catherine did everything with grace, compassion, and style. Catherine’s family will receive friends on Friday from 2-4 & 7-9 PM at Dorsey Funeral Home, Ossining.  The funeral service will be held on Saturday at 10:00 AM at Scarborough Presbyterian Church, 655 Scarborough Rd., Scarborough, NY.  The interment will take place on Monday, November 21, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. at Silver Lake Cemetery(off Horigan Ave.) in Athol, MA with the Rev. Dr. Beverly Prestwood-Taylor, pastor of the Athol Congregational Church, officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in Catherine's name to the Scarborough Presbyterian Church of Scarborough, NY, where Catherine was ordained and served untiringly as an Elder, for a Congregation which provided tremendous kindness and comfort to her and her family during her illness.
