LEOMINSTER - Cecile M. (Charette) Currier, 94 of 387 Mechanic Street, Leominster, died Monday, June 30, 2008 in the Sterling Healthcare, Sterling, MA.
She was born in Leominster, on March 14, 1914, the daughter of the late Oliver and the late Aglore (Gariepy) Charette.
Mrs. Currier grew up in Leominster and was a lifelong resident of Leominster.
Her first employment was at her father's bakery; she was later employed at the former Cluett & Peabody Shirt Company for many years and was also the cook at St. Cecilia's School for over twenty years.
Cecile was a communicant of St. Cecilia's Church and a life member of the Ladies of St. Ann's. She was an active member of the American Friendship Club in Fitchburg for many years.
Playing cards was a passion for her; she enjoyed the time spent with friends and family playing cards. She enjoyed playing Bingo and worked for many years cooking for the St. Cecilia's Bingo.
She leaves one daughter, Jeannine Brideau and her husband Venance of Leominster; two sons, John P. Currier and his wife Mary of Munroe, NC and Jerome O. Currier of Orange. Also survived by her grandchildren: Joseph Brideau and his wife Kristen of Fitchburg, Andrew Brideau and his wife Sandra of Leominster, Nancy Gurney and her husband Joe of Gardner, Jennifer Bock and her husband Eric of Leominster; John P. Currier, Jr. and his wife Jennifer of Shreveport, LA, David Currier of Lake Tahoe, CA; Beth Bowers and her husband Mark of Melrose, Stephanie Goryl and her husband Craig of South Boston, Rainelle Comeau and her husband Doug of Somerville, Alyssa Currier of Dover, NH; two sisters, Pauline Mandeville of Carona, CA, Doris Rancourt and her husband Leo of Auburndale, FL; one brother: Del Charette of Leominster; fourteen great grandchildren Caitlyn, Emily, Anna, Rebecca, Luke, Sarah, Shannon, Scott, Ben, Cassandra, Brian, Elizabeth, Zachary and Nicholas and many nephews and nieces.
She was predeceased by her husband of 53 years, John A. Currier who died in 1988 and by eight brothers and one sister.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, July 3, 2008 at 11:00 am in St. Cecilia's Church, 180 Mechanic Street, Leominster. Burial will follow in St. Cecilia's Cemetery.
Calling hours will be held Wednesday, July 2, 2008, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Simard Funeral Home 14 Walker St., Leominster, MA.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made in her memory to St. Cecilia's Church - Restoration Fund, 180 Mechanic Street, Leominster, MA 01453.
