SANTA CRUZ - Charles B. Jones, 83 of 694 Meder Street, Santa Cruz, CA, died Tuesday, March 22, 2011 at home.
He was born in Abilene, TX, on October 4, 1927, the son of the late Charles and the late Gertrude (Syfrett) Jones.
He grew up in Texas to the age of 9 and then moved to California. He graduated from high school in Hawthorne, CA in 1945.
He served during World War II and the Korean war in the Navy and was awarded the Purple Heart and the Korean Service Medal.
He worked as a machinist on automated machines for many years.
He was a member of the Confidence Lodge No. 110, Wild Lily No 18 - Order of the Eastern Star, Knight York Cross of Honor, Royal Arch Masons No. 38, Santa Cruz Commandery No 44, Santa Cruz Council, Scottish Rite, Islam Shrine and the Allied Masonic Degree No. 95.
He leaves his wife of 44 years, Judith S,(Partanen) Jones; a sister, Barbara L. Radics of Washington; two brothers, Jack D. Jones of Texas, Richard D. Jones of Oregon.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, April 8, 2011 at 11:00 am in Sacred Heart Church, 166 Cross St., Gardner. Burial will follow in Green Bower Cemetery.
Calling hours will be held Friday from 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. at the Poliks Funeral Home, 431 Pleasant St., Gardner.
