GARDNER - Charles E. “Charlie” Langlois Jr., 89 of Gardner, died Wednesday, October 19, 2016. Charles was a Gardner native, born on October 25th, 1926, son of Charles and Edmee (Beaudet) Langlois. He was a graduate of Holy Rosary School and Gardner High School, class of 1944. Soon after graduation, he served as a Seaman 1st Class in the United States Navy from November 1944 until July, 1946. He later attended and graduated from Boston University with a B.S. degree in Business Administration in 1951. In 1952 he married Paulette Allaire and together they had five children: Robert, Suzanne, Joseph, Michelle and Pierre. He has 7 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. He was a communicant of Holy Rosary Church and for years served as a Eucharistic minister. He was also a long time member of the Saint Vincent-de-Paul Society. He was a Traffic Manager at Thayer Furniture for many years, and later a freight solicitor for Sanborn Motor Express and Casey Transportation. He also worked part time for many years at Student Shoe Store in downtown Gardner. In addition, he served on the Board of Directors of the GFA Credit Union for 30 years and served as an appointed member of the City of Gardner’s Retirement Board for five 3-year terms. He enjoyed watching all sports, did lots of skiing in his younger years, and enjoyed playing his favorite sport of tennis for over 60 years. He greatly enjoyed socializing with many, many people and his friendly and gregarious personality enabled him to befriend many people from all walks of life. For relaxation, he enjoyed listening to classical music. He leaves his children, Suzanne Walker and her husband Wayne of Westminster, MA, Michelle Arsenault and her husband Ken of Gardner, MA, and Pierre Langlois and his wife Leyla of Ledyard, CT; daughter-in-law, Maria Langlois of Athol; grandchildren, Michael R. Langlois and his wife Julia of San Antonio Texas, Jeffrey Langlois of Gardner, Jaclyn Budwick and her husband Daniel of Gardner, Jenna Arsenault of Fitchburg, Joseph Arsenault of Gardner, Jacob Langlois of Gardner, Isabella and Cooper Langlois of Ledyard, CT; great grandchildren, Sophia, Gabriella, and Andrew Langlois, all of San Antonio, TX, Emily Budwick and Anna Budwick both of Gardner; nephews and niece, John Langlois of Gardner, Michael J. Langlois of Templeton, and Ann Marie Murray of Bow NH. He was predeceased by his wife of 63 years, M. Paulette (Allaire) Langlois; by two sons, Robert and Joseph Langlois, his great granddaughter, Ellie Budwick, his brother, Norman Langlois, and his daughter-in-law, Jayne Langlois. Calling hours are Monday, October 24, 2016 from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. in the Lamoureux-Fletcher & Smith Funeral Home, 105 Central St., Gardner. The funeral Mass will be held Tuesday, October 25, 2016, at 10:30 A.M. in Holy Rosary Church, 135 Nichols St., Gardner. Burial will follow in the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Winchendon. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Robert C.
