ATHOL - Charlotte W. Bell, 79 of 739 Daniel Shays Highway, Athol,
passed away Friday, April 9, 2010 at the Quabbin Valley Healthcare
Alzheimer Unit.
She was born in Waltham, MA, on June 22, 1930, the daughter of the
late Edward G. and the late Mary (Tibbetts) White. Having grown up in
Waltham and Westford, she graduated from Westford Academy in 1948.
Charlotte worked in many careers throughout her life. Among them she
waitressed at many local restaurants, worked at the Westford and
Groton Post Offices, the Pepperell Times Free Press and The
Broadcaster as a writer and proof reader, was a realtor and was the
first female Assessor for the Town of Groton.
She had a love of music and played many instruments such as the piano
and the organ. Charlotte enjoyed her music collection and shared it
with friends and family. She loved to sew and do crafts and was very
artistic. As a child she took years of tap dance lessons and piano
lessons.
She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Leslie G. Bell; two
daughters, Diane Nutt and her husband Richard of Pepperell; Robin A.
Hebert and her husband Bernard of Pepperell; one son, Kevin Bell and
his wife Lois of Nashua, NH; a daughter in law, Patricia M. Silva of
Lowell; six grandchildren, Mathew Nutt, Melissa Marison, Jeremy Nutt,
Katrina Palanski, Brian E. Bell, Jr., Jessica Bell; and two great
grandchildren, Amanda and Ashley Nutt.
She was predeceased by her son, Brian E. Bell who passed away in
December of 2009. She was also predeceased by her sister Lois Ulrich
and her brother Kenneth White.
Memorial services will be held Friday, April 16, 2010 at 10:00 am in Fiske Funeral Home, 1356 Main Street, Athol.
Burial will follow in
the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Winchendon.
A calling hour will be held Friday, April 16, 2010, from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made in her memory to Quabbin Valley Healthcare - Activities Fund, 821 Daniel Shays Highway, Athol, MA 01331.
