Athol – Cheryl M. (Grindle) Britt, 38, of Shore Drive, died Monday, January 5, 2015 at her home.
Cheryl was born in Greenfield, MA, August 17, 1976, the daughter of William M. Grindle and Deborah (Miettinen). She grew up in Athol where she has lived all of her life, graduating from Athol High School.
Cheryl worked as a certified nurses’ aide at the Quabbin Valley Healthcare and Athol Hospital for many years and she had also worked at Thomas and Bettes. She was an avid Boston sports fan, especially the Boston Bruins. Cheryl enjoyed playing bingo and keno and always enjoyed helping others. She loved spending time with her family and friends.
She leaves two daughters, Hannah and Skilah Britt; her father, William M. Grindle and his wife Theresa of Greenfield and her mother, Deborah Lucier and step-father, Henry of Orange; two sisters, Sarah Petrin and her husband Nathan of Athol and Nichole Wonkka and her husband James of Orange; two nieces, Taylor Wonkka and Aubrey Deborah Petrin and a nephew, Nathan Petrin, Jr.; a step-sister, Anna Dingman of Greenfield; three step-brothers, Chase Dingman of Greenfield, Brandon Sayer of Bernardston and Alan Lucier of Portland, ME; her fiancée, Kevin Matthews of Athol; her former husband, Jeremy Britt of Athol and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Funeral services will be held Friday, January 9, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Higgins-O’Connor Funeral Home, 146 Main Street, Athol. Burial will follow at Silver Lake Cemetery and there will be a calling hour on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions may be made in Cheryl’s name to: St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
