Claire M. Twine, 97, of Gardner, died peacefully at her home, surrounded by her family, on Saturday, December 21, 2024.
Born on September 8, 1927, in Brockton, MA, she was the daughter of the late John and Mary Walsh. Claire graduated from Brockton high school with the class of 1945 and received her associate’s degree in business in 1946. In 1947 she married childhood friend and the love of her life Paul Twine. They devoted 55 years to each other until his passing in 2002.
Claire and Paul were owners of The Drapery Shop in Gardner for three decades. She was a talented seamstress who specialized in window treatments. Together she and Paul added beauty to the homes and businesses in the community. Claire and Paul enjoyed golf together in their retired years in Florida and loved when her family would come to visit. Claire was a devoted volunteer throughout her life in organizations like HOPE House of Peace and Education in Gardner, and Heywood Hospital and worked closely with Fr. Ralph Diorio in his ministry. She also taught CCD and her focus was on confirmation classes. Her work was a true testament to her Catholic faith.
Claire cherished her family most in life and all the times she spent with them. Claire is survived by her five loving children, daughters Susan Meagher and her husband Skip, Karen Boynton and her husband Jerry, Nancy Gallant and her husband Jim, Donna Koski and her husband Don, and a son Richard Twine and his wife Monique. Claire was blessed with 14 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, 9 great great grandchildren, and many amazing nieces and nephews. Claire also cherished 15 years with her beloved dog, Ben.
Claire was predeceased by her husband, Paul, her parents, John and Mary Walsh, and her three sisters Ann McGowan, Rita McGowan, and Jane Vass.
