LEOMINSTER - Claudin J. Saulnier 90, of 1 Sixth St Leominster, died Monday morning, September 27, 2010, at home after an illness.
He was born on April 9, 1920 in Dupris Corner, New Brunswick, Canada the son of the late Alphee Saulnier and Olive (Cormier) Saulnier and came to the United States settling in Fitchburg before moving to Leominster in 1972.
He leaves his two daughters, Juliette Rowland and her husband Robert of Phoenix Arizona, Nancy Goodsell and her husband Sean of Florida; three brothers, Aquilla Saulnier, Camille Saulnier and Gerard Saulnier all of New Brunswick Canada; one sister Yvonne Leblanc of New Brunswick Canada; two grandchildren, Erin Weeden of Plymouth MA, Jacob Rowland of Phoenix Arizona; two great grandchildren, Ktan Weeden and Seeqan Weeden both of Plymouth MA; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was predeceased by his wife Dora (Boudreau) Saulnier who died in1986, by his daughter Diane Saulnier who died August 14, 2010, and by three brothers Fernand Saulnier, Arice Saulnier and Olando Saulnier.
Mr. Saulnier attended school in New Brunswick Canada, and served in the Canadian Military from 1941-1947. He worked for over twenty-five years at Independent Lock Company in Fitchburg; he went on to work at Auto Fabric in Acton until his retirement.
He was a communicant of St Cecilia's Church in Leominster, a member of the Leominster Franco American War Veterans Club, and the Leominster Senior Center. He enjoyed playing cribbage, shooting pool and was also very active in activities and events at the Leominster Senior Center.
The funeral will be held Thursday 30, 2010, from Simard Funeral Home 14 Walker St Leominster with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Cecilia's Church, 180 Mechanic St., Leominster. Burial will follow in St Cecilia's Cemetery, Leominster.
Calling hours will be held Wednesday, September 29, 2010, from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
