Athol – Cleido E. Simonetti, 79, of 159 Sanders Street, died Monday, February, 28, 2011 at the Cooley-Dickinson Hospital in Northampton.
Simmi was born in Athol, Massachusetts, February 13, 1932, the son of Cleido and Maria A. (Montagna) Simonetti. He grew up and has lived in Athol all of his life, graduating from Athol High School in 1950.
Simmi was a licensed electrician, working at the Former Heywood-Wakefield Company in Gardner for 19 years and for the L.S. Starrett Company for 17 years, retiring in 1996. He also was a carpenter and was able to build or work on any type of project. He was an avid golfer and former member of the Ellinwood and Petersham Country Clubs, loved to play Bocci, was a member of Our Lady Immaculate Church, the Athol-Orange Lodge of Elks # 1837 and the Edward H. Phillips American Post # 102.
He leaves his wife of 49 years, Margaret A. (Deegan) Simonetti, a sister Edna Baublis and her husband Joseph of Athol and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Friday, March 4, 2011 from Higgins-O’Connor Funeral Home, 146 Main Street, Athol followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady Immaculate Church, 192 School Street, Athol. There will be a calling hour on Friday from 9:00 – 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Gethsemane Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations be made to Our Lady Immaculate Church, Building Fund, 192 School Street, Athol, MA 01331.
