ATHOL - Clifford F. Batchelor, 78 of Athol, passed away Sunday, September
3, 2017 in UMASS Medical - University Campus, Worcester.
Cliff was born in Athol on June 21, 1939 to the late Douglas Batchelor and
the late Orisza (Stone) Batchelor. He grew up in Phillipston and graduated
from Narragansett High School with the Class of 1959. He was a Fire Tower
Watchman in Phillipston along with being part of the Civil Air Patrol
working in the call center during the Korean War. He was a member of the
Future Farmers of America and attended Meat Cutter School in Toledo, Ohio.
Cliff worked for O'Hearn's Funiture Factory for several years, going on to work at the L. S. Starrett Company for 34 years, retiring in 2001. He
enjoyed fishing, camping, golf, drawing and painting. He was a Red Sox fan,
and especially loved spending time with his family and friends.
Cliff is survived by his wife of 16 years: Rita (Marquis) Batchelor of
Athol; two sons: Mark Batchelor and his wife Vanessa of Athol, William
Batchelor and his wife Susan of Athol; three daughters: Julianne Hurtle
and her husband Richard of Athol, Barbara Churchill and her husband Richard
of Spotsylvania, VA, Beth Burgess and her husband TJ of Bonita Springs, FL;
two step-children: Ronny Cote and his companion Robin Duguay of Athol,
Denise Robinson and her husband Bruce of Royalston; one brother: Gordon
Batchelor and his wife Jeannine of Phillipston; three sisters: Linda
Connors of Gardner, Lois Batchelor of Springfield, Lauren Lefrancois and
her husband Michael of KY; eighteen grandchildren; twenty-four great
grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by his first wife of 33 years: Barbara (Cleveland)
Batchelor and one brother: Richard Batchelor.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 9, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. in
the Fiske-Murphy & Mack Funeral Home, 110 New Athol Rd., Orange. Burial
will follow in Lower Cemetery, Phillipston.
Calling hours will be held Friday from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the
funeral home.
