GARDNER- Connie (Foskett) Gikis, 90, of Gardner, died peacefully on January 21, 2015.
She was born in Templeton on May 27, 1924, daughter of the late Bradley and Ruth (Hawkes) Foskett.
Connie will be most fondly remembered for her love of walks, the smile on her face, and the kind words she spoke to those she met. She had a sweet and gentle way with children and a love of her community. She was a lifelong fan of the Red Sox, Patriots, and local sporting events. She also enjoyed bicycling, knitting, bingo, and trips to Maine and Oregon. Her greatest joy was her family, especially her grandchildren.
She worked at the Gardner News and Simplex for many years. She was a Girl Scout leader in the late 1950’s and early 1960’s. She was a member of the First Church of Templeton and a member of various ladies groups at Church.
She will be sadly missed by her children, Toni and John Carabba, Tony and LeeAnn Gikis, George and Colleen Gikis, Wendy and Jack Spuria; fourteen grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews including Carol Gikis and Brian Valiton.
She was predeceased by her husband, Anthony Gikis, sister, Barbara Valiton, and grandson, Shawn Carabba.

Tyler’s parents established the Tyler Foundation in 2006 when he was diagnosed with epilepsy at three weeks old. All money raised is donated to families of children being treated at Children’s Hospital Boston and UMass Memorial Medical Center.
Services are private under the direction of Mack Funeral Home, 91 Vernon St., Gardner.
