HUBBARDSTON- Constance (Brown) Bumpus, 101, of Hubbardston, died April 23, in Heywood Hospital.
Connie was born January 19, 1917, in Worcester, daughter of the late John and Alice (Falvey) Brown. She married the love of her life, Bill Bumpus, on November 10, 1935. They raised three children together. Connie was a homemaker but also had several part time jobs including Old Sturbridge, Baldwinville Cottages, and at the Center School cafeteria. Connie enjoyed vacationing at Cape Cod, sewing, bowling, arts and crafts, bingo, and gardening. She was an award winning painter. She made blankets, quilts, Raggedy Ann and Andy dolls for all the children over the years. She was an avid sports fan, never forgetting to watch her beloved Red Sox, Celtics, Patriots, and of course NASCAR.
Connie was the oldest member of the First Parish Unitarian of Hubbardston and was also a member of the Hubbardston Golden Agers.
She was predeceased by her husband, Bill Bumpus, her great grandson, Stephen Record, her brothers, Francis and John Brown, her sisters, Alice Black, Barbara Bissell, and Eileen Hopkins, her daughter in law, Sharon Bumpus, and her son in law, Frank Prentiss.
