Constance B. Qualters
Athol – Constance B. (Kelton) Qualters, 87, of 147 Lincoln Ave., died Wednesday, October 12, 2011 at the Quabbin Valley Healthcare.
Connie was born June 19, 1924 in Athol, Massachusetts, the daughter of Earl W. and Eva M. (Shaw) Kelton. She has lived in Athol all of her life, graduating from Athol High School in 1942.
She was a member of the Athol Congregational Church for over 55 years and the Ellinwood Country Club. Connie was quick to offer words of kindness through cards and remembrances to anyone who needed their spirits lifted. She enjoyed playing golf, cards and walking with her many good friends. Over the years she did numerous crafts such as quilting, rug hooking and decoupage, just to name a few. Connie especially loved spending time with her family.
She leaves her husband of 65 years, William D. Qualters; a daughter, Sheryl L. Brault of Hatfield and a good friend Sharon Crow also of Hatfield. Connie loved being “Nonnie†to her two grandchildren, Diane Snyder and Darryl Brault and six great grandchildren, Adrianna, Skylar, Alexis, Matthew, Ashley and Kellen. She also leaves a sister, Phyllis Wallwork and a sister-in-law, Gwendolyn Kelton, both of Athol, two nieces and one nephew. She was predeceased by her brother, Earl R. Kelton in 2006.
Graveside services will be held Tuesday, October 18, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at Highland Cemetery with the Rev. Dr. Beverly Prestwood-Taylor, pastor of the Athol Congregational Church officiating. Following the services a gathering will be held at the Athol Congregational Church. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations in Connie’s name be made to: Quabbin Valley Healthcare, Dana Unit, 821 Daniel Shays Highway, Athol, MA 01331.
