GARDNER- Cosmo “Dan” Ninno, 76, of Gardner, died Tuesday, June 26, at UMass Memorial in Worcester.
Dan was born September 27, 1941, in Syracuse, NY, son of the late Louis and Mary (Sasario) Ninno. He was a United States Army veteran of the Vietnam War. Dan worked for the MA Department of Corrections in Gardner for many years.
Being involved in local veterans organizations was extremely important to Dan. He was a member of the VFW, the American Legion, was treasurer for the Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 907, and was president and volunteer coordinator at the Montachusett Veterans Outreach Center.
He enjoyed gardening, computers, and spending time with his wife, Lorraine, at York Beach.
He leaves his wife of 46 years, Lorraine J. (Landry) Ninno; brothers and sisters in law, Alfred and Patricia Eyles of Fitchburg, and Howard and Ferne Landry of Clinton, NY; numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.
He was predeceased by two brothers, Paul and John Ninno.
Calling hours are Sunday, July 1, from 3:00 to 5:00 P.M. at Mack Family Funeral Homes, Lamoureux-Smith & Poliks Chapel, 105 Central St., Gardner.
The funeral Mass will be held Monday, July 2, at 10:30 A.M. at Holy Spirit Church, Lovewell St., Gardner. Burial with military honors will follow in the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery in Winchendon.
