Crystal M. (Rowell) Butterworth

Crystal M. Butterworth Royalston – Crystal M. (Rowell) Butterworth, 90, of 167 Warwick Road, died Monday, December 10, 2012 at Heywood Hospital in Gardner.      She was born in Calis, Vermont, November 9, 1922, the daughter of Pearl H. and Mabel F. (Richards) Rowell.  Crystal grew up in Vermont and came to Massachusetts in 1940, living in West Royalston for over 60 years.  She worked at the Erving Paper Mill, the Barre Woolen Mills, area shoe shops and many other jobs until her retirement.  Crystal loved her home and family, knitting, crocheting and sewing. She also was a former member of the South Athol United Methodist Church.        Her husband of 43 years, Thomas G. Butterworth died June 16, 1993.  She leaves three sons; Dale Rowell of VA, Scott Butterworth of Royalston and Steven Butterworth of Athol; two daughters, Linda Hopkins of Fitzwilliam, NH and Norma Butterworth of Royalston; a sister, Christine Wheeler of Orange; 17 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.  She was predeceased by four brothers and two sisters.      Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 13, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Higgins-O’Connor Funeral Home, 146 Main Street, Athol with the Rev.
