ORANGE - Daniel A. Fortunato, 93 of 219 East River St., Orange, died Saturday, December 24, 2005, in the Quabbin Valley Healthcare, Athol.
He was born in Fitchburg, on December 16, 1912, the son of the late Pasquale and the late Margherita (Vitrano) Fortunato. He grew up in Fitchburg and was educated in Fitchburg. He resided in Fitchburg until moving to Orange in 1989.
Mr. Fortunato was employed as a produce driver for Victory Produce in Fitchburg for several years. He worked in the kitchen at Burbank Hospital for over twenty years.
He was a communicant of St. Mary´s Church in Orange. He enjoyed playing the lottery.
He leaves three sons, Patrick D. Fortunato and his wife Judith of Fitchburg, Donald J. Fortunato and his wife Winifred of Phillipston, Daniel A. Fortunato Jr. of Spring, TX; two sisters, Assunta "Susie" Person of Fitchburg, Rose Barrows of Eagle River, Alaska; nine grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his wife Velma (Bourgeois) Fortunato who died in 1997; ;by his brother, John Fortunato of Fitchburg, by three sisters, Catherine Muscillo of Fitchburg, Geraldine Arsenault of Leominster, Mary Bryant of Fitchburg.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, December 29, 2005, at 11:00 am in St. Francis Of Assisi Church, 101 Main St., Athol. Burial Lower Cemetery, Phillipston will be in the spring.
A calling hour will be held Thursday from 9:30 -10:30 a.m. in the J. Edward Murphy Funeral Home, 137 Main St., Athol.
