Daniel V Saunders

ATHOL- Daniel V. Saunders, 61, of Athol, MA, died of cardiac and renal failure on September 25, 2021, at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital, Brighton, MA. He was the son of F. Gordon Saunders, Jr. (died 2006) and Valerie Saunders (died 1972) and the stepson of Suzanne B. Saunders since 1974. Daniel was a gentle and thoughtful soul who was a prolific reader and never forgot anything he read. At 6ft. 3 inches tall, Dan seemed to glide as he walked; he did float on his unicycle or on his skis with the Watatic Ski Patrol. He loved nature and ambled or rode his mountain bike countless times along woodland paths. During his younger years, Dan was a mason who found local jobs and some in Armenia and Aruba. His later years were spent in the employ of Kris Legrand Masonry. Kris became a lifelong friend. Besides his mother, Suzanne B. Saunders, Dan is survived by siblings Michael G. Saunders (Karen), Kevin G. Leamy (died 2002), Kirk B.J. Leamy (Linda), Shawn G. Leamy (Fumiko), John H. Leamy III, Patricia L. Saunders (Rich), Suzanne R. B. Vogel (Tim); nieces and nephews Joshua and Patrick Leamy, Victoria Brennecke, Erin and Connor Leamy, Mary Catherine Leamy, Ronan and Ailish Leamy; grandniece Sofia Leamy and grandnephew Oliver Brennecke.
