LEOMINSTER-----Daniel R. Tisdale 64 of Leominster died Friday October 14, 2011 at home after an illness. He was born November 10, 1947 in Leominster MA the son of the late Alfred Tisdale and Lillian (Gariepy)Tisdale. He leaves his son Shane Tisdale of California, Two brothers, Richard Tisdale and his wife Eileen of Leominster and his twin brother, David Tisdale of California, and his two sisters, Janice Horgan and her husband Daniel of California and Judy McNamara of California. He graduated from Leominster High School in the Class of 1965, and enjoyed fishing, playing pool, NASCAR and was a New York Yankees Fan. Daniel was a combat injured, United States Marine Corps veteran serving 2 Tours of Duty in Vietnam. He entered the service September 4, 1967 and was discharged January 28, 1973 attaining the rank of Lance Corporal. He was a Tunnel Rat and was also a Nighttime Sniper on the DMZ.He received the Combat Action Ribbon(Vietnam)Meritorious Commendation w / 1 Bronze Star, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service medal w / 1 Silver and 2 Bronze Campaign Stars, Republic of Vietnam Meritorious Unit Citation (Gallantry Cross w/ Palm and Frame),Republic of Vietnam Meritorious Unit Citation (Civil Actions Color w / Palm and Frame) Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Rifle Sharpshooter Badge and the Purple Heart for injuries received in combat. A funeral service, with military honors will be held on Wednesday October 19, 2011, from Simard Funeral Home 14 Walker St Leominster, with an 11am service in Winchendon Veterans Memorial Cemetery Glenallen Rd Winchendon. Calling Hours in the funeral home Tuesday evening October 18, 2011 are from 6pm-8pm.
