Darlene J. Wheeler-Coggins

JAFFREY, NH - Darlene Jane Wheeler-Coggins, 57, of 3 Forest Park, Jaffrey, NH, and formerly of Athol, died Wednesday, September 30, 2009 in the UMass Memorial Medical Center, Worcester, after a long illness. Darlene was born in Athol on November 24, 1951, the daughter of the late Edward and the late Lorna (Russell) Wheeler. She grew up in Athol and graduated from Athol High School with the class of 1969. She graduated from Keene State University in New Hampshire, receiving her Master's in Nursing Quality Improvement. Darlene was a Registered Nurse for the Athol Memorial Hospital for 35 years and previously worked at Heywood Hospital in Gardner. She resided in Phillipston, Massachusetts with her family in the early 1990's, and was a resident of Jaffrey, New Hampshire for five years. She assisted in the operation of many nursing homes in New Hampshire until her retirement in 1999 due to an illness. She was a former member of the Starrett Memorial United Methodist Church in Athol. She leaves her husband of eleven years, Michael A. Coggins of Jaffrey, NH; her son, Jacob Kasuba of Jaffrey, NH; her sister, Doris Squires, and many nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held Saturday, October 10, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at the Starrett Memorial United Methodist Church, 40 Island St., Athol. Burial will follow in Highland Cemetery, Athol. In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorial contributions be made in her memory to the American Cancer Society's New England Division Office, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701 or to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, 6931 Arlington Rd., Bethesda, MD 20814. $(document).ready(function(){ });
