David W. Bigwood, age 67, of Athol died Friday, July 4, 2014 at UMass Memorial Medical Center of Worcester, MA. David was born November 21, 1946 in Claremont, NH. He is the son of the late Wilhelmina C. Bigwood. He was raised by his grandfather, the late Robert Bigwood.
He was the loving husband of Sharon C. (Woodard) Bigwood. He and his wife were best friends and he will be sorely missed.
David served in the United States Navy.
He was employed as a cross country truck driver for over 20 years. He was a member of Gold Miners of NE. He loved gold mining and he gold mined in New Hampshire, Vermont, and Canada. He also enjoyed metal detecting. When he was younger, he enjoyed karate.
He is predeceased by his close friend and fellow gold miner, Michael Richards.
He is survived by his wife: Sharon C.(Woodard) Bigwood; Step Son, Dennis D. Cross of VA; Step Son, Jakob J. Morris of Athol, MA; step daughter, Stacy M. Eastman of Orange, MA; Step Daughter, Jessica J. Morris of New York, NY; Aunt, Althea Kenney of Haysville , KS; Aunt, Doris Houseman of Orange, MA; uncle, Clinton Bigwood Sr. of Ringe, NH.
Memorial donations may be made in David’s honor to the UMASS Liver Transplant Unit 55 Lake Ave. N. Room HA200L, Worcerster, MA 01655.
Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
