David A. Cosentino

GARDNER - David A. Cosentino, 80, of Gardner, died on Tuesday, May 3, 2011 after a brief illness. David was born in Fitchburg on January 12, 1931, the son of the late Frank and the late Irene (Vezzani) Cosentino. He was raised in Gardner and attended Gardner High School, Cushing Academy and Marianapolis. Mr. Cosentino served in the United States Navy during the Korean War from 1951 to 1955 in the US Sub-force in New London, CT. He was a local businessman who owned and operated Reliable Finishing on West Street in Gardner for many years and was the CEO of Chair City Upholstering from 1966 until it closed. David was a maitre d' at the Doral Country Club in Miami Beach, Florida and the manager and maitre d' at the Blue Hills Country Club in Canton, MA. He was a member of Sacred Heart Church in Gardner. He was a trustee and lifetime member of the Elks Club in Gardner, member of the Napoleon Club and former member of the Gardner American Legion and VFW. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, singing, playing the piano and playing gin. He was a member of the Gardner Municipal Golf Course where he had a hole-in-one and had a second hole-in-one at Westminster Woods. He is survived by his nieces, Debra Pochini and her husband Douglas of Gardner, Linda Marlowe and her husband Gerald of Daytona Beach, FL; and a nephew, John Cosentino and his wife Cherry of Hudson, WI; and many cousins. In addition to his parents, David was also predeceased by his sister, Irene Cosentino Parente, and by his brother, Francis Cosentino. At David's request, there will be no calling hours and after his cremation a private service will be held at St. Bernard's Cemetery in Fitchburg. It was David's wishes that memorial contributions be made in his memory to The American Cancer Society's New England Division Office, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701 or to The Gardner Relay for Life c/o Debra Pochini, 43 Leo Drive, Gardner, MA 01440. $(document).ready(function(){ });
