David W. Duncanson Athol – David W. Duncanson, 71, of Fish Street, died Sunday, September 28, 2014 at St. Vincent Hospital in Worcester.      David was born January 12, 1943 in Malden, Massachusetts, the son of William and Myrtle (Benhke) Duncanson.  He grew up and lived in Wellesley for many years, graduating from Norfolk County Agricultural Trade School.  David served in the U.S. Navy during the Viet Nam war from 1962 to 1966. During his time in the Navy he served on the USS Vulcan and received a commendation and the National Defense Service Medal. He also served on the USS Preserver where he also earned a commendation and the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal (Dominican Republic).      David worked as a diesel mechanic for many years for Hubbs Engine. He then opened The Leather Shop in Ware which he operated with his wife and children for many years and also worked at Home Depot in Leominster for several years.      David was a member of the Eden Masonic Lodge A.F. & A.M. in Ware for many years.  He was an avid model train enthusiast enjoying HO scale, enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family. He and his wife always had an open door to all the children Deb and Duane brought home through-out the years.      He leaves his children, Debra Gabrenas and her husband Kevin, Duane Duncanson and his wife of Athol. David embraced four other children as his own, Tom Hamilton and Amy O’Leary of Athol, James Pratt of Orange, Hope Sheldon of CT; a sister, Linda Parsons of VA and several cousins; eight grandchildren Ashlie Visco and her husband Frank, Christopher Reimers, James Duncanson, Shelby Roberto, Hunter Roberto, Zachary Gabrenas and Sarah Gabrenas all of Athol and Kylie Duncanson of VT; seven great-grandchildren, Kaylie and Frankie Visco, Kiley and JJ Cote, Aubrey Gabrenas, Logan Sheldon and Skylar Hamilton; his former son-in-law, Kevin Roberto and Lori; several nieces and nephews . During his time in Athol he made many friends both young and old that he treasured. One of his grandchildren could not say Grampie when she was little and called him Giggy, the name stuck and he was forever known to those that loved him as Gig.
