David R. Hood

ATHOL - David Roger Hood, age 70, of Athol died Monday, July 11, 2016 at Health Alliance Leominster Campus of Leominster. David was born May 10, 1946 in Gardner. He is the son of the late Stanley Joseph and the late Anna Marion (Stone) Hood. He lived in Athol all of his life, graduating from Athol High School in 1964. While in high school he played baseball. He worked for L.S. Starrett Company for 45 years until his retirement. David taught the Athol Little League for 20 years. He enjoyed watching Boston team sports, was an avid candlepin bowler and played softball with the Pequoig League. He is survived by one daughter: Dianna Zucco of Hanson; one brother: John R. Hood of Wakefield; He also has two grandchildren; Alex and Eric. He is predeceased by his brother, James Hood, and his longtime companion, Marie Tatro. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, July 19, 2016 at 11AM at Gethsemane Cemetery, Daniel Shays Highway, Athol, with Rev. Joseph Bezio Jr. officiating.
