David William King, known to all as David, was a man whose life was a testament to the qualities of generosity, love, loyalty, and humility. Born on June 30, 1947, in Gardner, MA, he passed away three days shy of his 77th Birthday at the Leominster Hospital, surrounded by his immediate family. 

David spent his life in service to others - whether in his career as a dedicated salesman for a beverage distributor or in his personal life, cherishing his family and friends above all else. David served in the United States Army and was a Veteran of the Vietnam War. He was a man who radiated warmth, and his genuine affection touched everyone fortunate enough to know him.

David was a humble man who never sought the limelight, but his accomplishments were nonetheless significant. He was a valued member of the Ellinwood Country Club and the American Legion, Post 102 in Athol, where he was known for his unwavering support and loyalty. In his spare time, he sought joy in the simple pleasures of life, such as reading, playing golf, and most importantly, spending time with his loved ones. As the American novelist Erich Segal once wrote, "True love comes quietly, without banners or flashing lights. If you hear bells, get your ears checked." This perfectly encapsulates the essence of David - a quiet, steadfast beacon of love.

David leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion in those who survive him; his wife of 53 years, Constance King, his children Sarah (Kevin) Swan and Peter King, his sister Sally Kamerbeek, his brothers Michael (Marie), Roger and Bruce (Joanne) King, as well as several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents William and Evelyn King, his brother Robert King, and his brother-in-law Randall Kamerbeek. In the words of Maya Angelou, "People will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel." David's generous spirit, loving heart, and humble nature will live on in the hearts of those he loved and who loved him.

A Celebration of Life will be held for David at the Athol American Legion, Saturday August 10th from 11am - 2pm. The burial for David will be held at a later date.
