FITCHBURG- David J. Lamkin, 61, of Fitchburg, died Saturday, October 7, after putting up a great fight against cancer for 6 months.
He was born April 27, 1956, in Fitchburg, son of the late Paul and Pauline (Lessard) Lamkin. He worked hard for many years as an electrician as well as a landlord. David was a member of St. Cecilia's Parish and the United Divers of Central Massachusetts and IBEW Local Union 96.
David was an avid long distance 7 1/2 minute runner. He loved the outdoors, especially skiing, scuba diving, hunting, and fishing with his buddies. He will be remembered as always being there when anyone needed him. He was a thoughtful husband and caring father and was loved by all that knew him.
He leaves his beautiful wife of 33 years, Susan M. (Boivin) Lamkin; a son, Nathan Lamkin and his fiancé, Ashley Ribbans of Fitchburg; a brother, Michael Lamkin and his loving companion, Debbie LaFleur of Fitchburg; two sisters, Carrie Quilici and her husband, Tony of AZ, and Linda DeMontigny and her husband, Joseph of GA; a nephew, Corey DeMontigny of GA; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
The funeral will be held Thursday, October 12, at 10:00 A.M. at St. Cecilia's Church, 180 Mechanic St. Leominster. Burial will follow in St. Cecilia's Cemetery.
Calling hours are Wednesday, October 11, from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. at Simard Funeral Home, 14 Walker St., Leominster.
