David G. Pandiscio

  ATHOL - David G. Pandiscio, 77 of 739 Daniel Shays Highway, Athol, died Thursday, October 20, 2011 at home.   He was born in Fitchburg, on April 23, 1934, the son of the late Rocco and the late Elisa (Chiccone) Pandiscio.   He grew up in Fitchburg and graduated from St. Bernard's High School, then went on to Fitchburg State College where he received his Bachelors and Masters Degrees in Education. He also attended the Hallmark School of Photography. Mr. Pandiscio played semi-pro football for the state champion Leominster Lions for two seasons before entering the military. He served in the United States Air Force from 1956 to 1958 as an aircraft radio repairman and received an honorable disability discharge in 1958.   Mr. Pandiscio was a teacher at Athol High School for 32 years where he taught Math, Graphic Arts, Industrial Arts and Drafting. He was a well-known class advisor to six different classes. He was the schools yearbook photographer for all yearbooks until his retirement in 1991. He also taught driver's education with Paul's Driving School in Gardner. He was a professional wedding photographer and operated “Pandiscio Studio” at his residence on Pinedale Ave in Athol and photographed over 420 weddings during his career. He was a communicant of Our Lady Immaculate Church, and a former member of the Knights of Columbus.   Mr. Pandiscio was a NRA Certified Instructor for many years and was a competitive shooter with the Athol Woodsman Club for a number of years.   He enjoyed flower gardening, golfing in Petersham, cooking Italian food and especially enjoyed Sunday dinners with his family. He leaves his devoted and loving wife of 53 years: Joanne (Murray) Pandiscio, three daughters: Cynthia M. Winters and her husband Mark of Athol, Gina M. Daniels and her husband Corey of Wellington, FL, Amy Jo Woods and her husband Anthony of Newton, PA; one son: David F. Pandiscio and his wife Patricia of Athol; one sister: Nicoline Upton of Pittsburgh, PA; two brothers: Rocco Pandiscio of Fitchburg, Louis Pandiscio of Fitchburg; nine grandchildren: Joshua D. Winters, Emily J. Winters, Adam Daniels, Andrew Daniels, Jaidyn Daniels, Zachary Woods, Jacob Woods, Stephanie Pandiscio, Natalie Pandiscio; many nieces and nephews.   He was predeceased by three brothers: Anthony Pandiscio, Vincent Pandiscio, Dr. Robert Pandiscio and by two sisters: Yolanda Smith and Mary Carpenter.                 A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, October 29, 2011 at 10:30 am in the Our Lady Immaculate Church, 192 School St., Athol. Burial will be held at a later date.              Calling hours will be held Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Fiske-Murphy & Mack Funeral Home, 110 New Athol Rd., Orange, MA.             In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made in his memory to Our Lady Immaculate Church, 192 School St., Athol, MA 01331 or The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, Donor Services, P.O.
