LEOMINSTER - Desiderio "Chuck" Piermarini, 81, of 62 Lincoln Terrace, Leominster, died Saturday, May 1, 2010 in the Health Alliance Leominster Campus.
He was born in Pretare Ascoli Peceno, Italy on August 28, 1928, the son of the late Joseph and the late Pasquilini (Angelini) Piermarini.
Chuck moved to the United States when he was nine years old and has been a resident of Leominster for many years. He worked for the former Foster Grants Company as an Inspector for forty years until his retirement in the 1980s.
Chuck was a former member of St. Rocco's Saladini Club and the Sons of Italy. He was a baseball enthusiast and an avid fan of the Boston Red Sox. Chuck lived zestfully and enjoyed the simple things in life. He enjoyed taking trips to the mall and was self-sufficient despite his physical limitations. Chuck was very fond of his children and grandchildren and especially enjoyed taking rides with his wife, Lucy.
He leaves his wife of fifty-nine years, Lucy (Sardo) Piermarini; two daughters, Carol Booth and her husband Frank of Leominster, Nora Piermarini of San Francisco, CA; one sister, Rosalie Lamanna and her husband Gabriel of Leominster; two grandchildren, Lauren Booth of and Gregory Booth, both of Leominster; three nephews, one niece and many cousins.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, May 5, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. in St. Anna's Church, 194 Lancaster St., Leominster. Burial will follow in St. Leo's Cemetery, Leominster.
Calling hours will be held Tuesday, May 4, 2010 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Simard Funeral Home, 14 Walker Street, Leominster.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made in his memory to American Diabetes Association, 330 Congress St., 5th Floor, Boston, MA 02210.
