Gardner- Diane Smith, 67, died at UMass Medical Center in Worcester on June 29, 2023, after a long illness.
She leaves her son, Ryan Smith and his companion Angela Caron of Gardner; her son, Damien Demont of Gardner; her longtime companion, Jim Croteau of Gardner; two grandchildren, Jocelyn Croteau and Evan Croteau of Westminster and one brother, Tom Smith of Florida.
She is predeceased by a brother, Robert Smith.
Diane was born in Gardner, on September 11, 1955, a daughter of the late Victor Herbert and Dorothy (Boone) Smith. She was a 1973 graduate of Gardner High School. She worked at Heywood Hospital for over 25 years, as a food technician.
Diane truly loved Halloween, she always celebrated Halloween by having her family and friends over to her home. She also loved animals, especially cats. She enjoyed her work and the people she worked with; as well as going for rides on Jim’s motorcycle.
Her funeral will be held on Saturday, July 8, 2023, 11:00 am in the Mack Funeral Home, 105 Central Street, Gardner, MA 01440.
Her burial will follow in Wildwood Cemetery, Rt 68, West Street, Gardner, MA 01440
Calling hours will be from 9:00 - 11:00 am in the funeral home prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Gardner Animal Shelter, 899 W Broadway, Gardner, MA 01440.
