ATHOL - Dominic F. Coppolino, 85 of 87 Glen St., Athol, died Friday, November 23, 2007 at home. He was born in Barre, on September 29, 1922, the son of the late Carmelo and the late Santa (Puglia) Coppolino. He grew up in Barre and graduated from Barre High School. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Army. He received the Good Conduct Medal, the Victory Medal and the American Theater Campaign Ribbon. Mr. Coppolino worked at Union Twist Drill for many years. He was a member of the Athol-Orange Lodge of Elks #1837 and a member of the Edward H. Phillips Athol American Legion Post No. 102. He participated in the Phillipston Pumpkin Contest for many years. He was an avid gardener and hunter and he loved to pick mushrooms. He loved cooking delicious Italian food and had a warm smile for everyone. He enjoyed his many rides and time spent with Michael. He had an ear for music and loved to dance. He especially enjoyed his visits with little Robbie, playing the drums and Jazmyn dancing for him. He also looked forward to his summers in Newport Rhode Island with family and friends. He leaves three daughters, Donna S. Coppolino of Athol, Santa M. LaJoie of Athol, Jean Twohey and her husband Craig of Phillipston; two sons, Robert E. Coppolino and his wife Diana of Hubbardston, Dominic F. Coppolino, Jr. and his wife Cindy of Oakham; one brother, Guy Coppolino of S. Barre; twelve grandchildren, Robby Coppolino, Joel Coppolino, Jessica Satnick, Mimi Wettengel, Jennifer Coppolino, Michael Coppolino, Cristie LaJoie, Jonathan Coppolino, Katie Coppolino, Justin Coppolino, Sam Coppolino and Ryan Twohey; ten great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife of 46 years, Elnora P. Robinson, by a brother, Carmelo Coppolino, and by two sisters, Ida Inzerillo and Sarah Spano. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2007 at 10:00 am in Our Lady Immaculate Church, 192 School St., Athol. Burial will follow in Highland Cemetery. Calling hours will be held Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2007, from 2 - 4 and 6 - 8:00 p.m. in the Fiske Funeral Home 1356 Main St., Athol.
