Donald F. Allen

ATHOL - Donald F. Allen, 78 of 66 Goddard St., Athol, died Wednesday, November 28, 2012 in the Legend Rehabilitation And Nursing Center, Gardner. Don was born in Jacksonville, VT, on August 21, 1934, the son of the late Pearly and the late Myrtle (Fox) Allen.  Mr. Allen married Marjorie Struthers on July 13, 1957, and enjoyed 55 years of marriage. Don grew up in Athol and was a lifelong resident.  He worked as an inspector in Dept. 16 for the L.S. Starrett Tool Company for 41 years. Don was the Scout Master for B.S.A. Troop 16 Athol for 20 years.  He took great pride in this role, which was reflected back to him by the respect shown to him by all his scouts, leaders and parents within the troop and the scouting community.  He was a Ham Operator (WA/FXY) and enjoyed photography.  Don especially loved spending time with his family and grandson Seth. Don leaves his wife: Marjorie Allen; one son: Scott Allen; a grandson, Seth M. Allen; brother and sister-in-law Henry and Janet Sevigny, sister-in-law Cheryl Sevigny; many nieces and nephews, great nieces and great nephews; cousins Reggie Fox of Jacksonville VT, Jean and Paul Ignaszewski and Roger All of Athol Graveside services will be held in the spring at the convenience of the family in Silver Lake Cemetery. No calling hours are scheduled.
