Donald R. Blair Athol – Donald R. Blair, 71, of 739 Daniel Shays Highway, died Monday, April 13, 2015 at UMass Memorial Healthcare – University Campus in Worcester.      Donald was born in East Orange, NJ, August 14, 1943, the son of Ray S. and Helen (Taylor) Blair.  He grew up in Nutley, NJ where he graduated from high school and from Muhlenberg College of Allentown, PA in 1965 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in chemistry. He has resided in Athol since 2010.      Donald was technical director, working in the paper industry for many years for several companies throughout the U.S.  He enjoyed gardening, reading and working on his computer.        His wife of 48 years, Prudence C. (Smith) Blair died in 2014.  He leaves a son, Douglas L. Blair and his wife Christine of Athol, a daughter, Mary Brady of Durham, CT and four grandchildren, Jason, Sam, Michael and Sarah, a brother, Kenneth Blair of Nutley, NJ and a sister, Judith Statler of Aloha, OR.      Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 16, 2015  at 11:00 a.m. at Higgins-O’Connor Funeral Home, 146 Main Street, Athol with Lt. Elliot Higgins of the Salvation Army officiating.  Burial will follow at Gethsemane Cemetery and there will be a calling hour from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
