GARDNER - Donald N. Boyd, 80 of 431 Pleasant St., Gardner, died Sunday, October 21, 2012 in the Heywood Hospital, Gardner, MA. He was born in Nashua, NH, on April 3, 1932, the son of the late Jon H. and the late Ruth (Corliss) Boyd. Don grew up in Nashua and graduated from Nashua High School in 1950.  He graduated from Nashua Business College in 1956 with a Business Degree. Mr. Boyd was a veteran of the Korean War serving in the U.S. Air Force. He was employed at Sander Associates in Nashua as a payroll manager for several years.  He worked for over 30 years with the James E. Mack Florist both in Gardner and in Florida.  He lived in Gardner for many years and was a resident of St. Petersburg, FL for 18 years moving back to Gardner in 1997.  Don was a communicant of St. Joseph's Church; a member of the AARP; and a life member of the Disabled American Veterans since 1989. He leaves one daughter, Donna M. Boyd of Hinsdale, NH; his companion, James E. Mack of Gardner; two grandchildren, Eryn Marshall and her husband Steven of West Chesterfield, NH; Heather Willey of Point Pleasant, Maine; and four great grandchildren, Michaela Boyd of Hinsdale, NH, Haley Marshall of West Chesterfield, NH, Tanner Marshall of West Chesterfield, NH, Hunter Willey of East Machias, Maine. He was predeceased by his sister, Patricia A. Boyd. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, October 25, 2012 at 11:00 am in St. Joseph's Church, 358 Pleasant St., Gardner.  Burial with military honors will follow in St. Bernard's Cemetery, Fitchburg. Calling hours will be held Thursday, October 25, 2012, from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m. at the Mack Funeral Home 91 Vernon St., Gardner. The family suggests that memorial donations be made in his memory to St. Joseph’s Church 358 Pleasant St., Gardner, MA 01440 or to the Gardner Visiting Nursing Association, 34 Pearly Lane, Gardner, MA 01440.
