Donald F. Farnum
Worcester – Donald Fairbanks Farnum, 83, died Thursday, January 31, 2013 at the Worcester Rehabilitation and Health Care Center.
Donald was born August 4, 1929 in Athol, Massachusetts, the son of Walter E. and Irene F. (Fairbanks) Farnum. He grew up in Athol, graduating from Athol High School in 1947 and has resided in Worcester for many years. Donald served in the U.S. Army Air Corps from 1948 until 1949. He was a carpenter for most of his life, working for several different construction companies in the Worcester area.
He leaves his wife of 63 years, Marilyn (McIntosh) Farnum; two sons; David and Dean Farnum and a daughter, Janice Streeter, all of Athol; 10 grandchildren, Jamie, Jason, Jennifer, Andrew, Michael, David, Emily, Libby, Kathy and Bill; five great grandchildren, Bailey, Sierra, Bryce, Zoey and Zaydyn and a sister, Jean Freeman of Hyannis and Florida. He was predeceased by a brother Gregory Farnum.
Graveside services will be held at Silver Lake Cemetery in the spring with the Rev. Dr. Beverly Prestwood-Taylor, pastor of the Athol Congregational Church officiating. The family suggests contributions in Donald’s memory be made to the Athol Congregational Church, “Book of Memory†1225 Chestnut Street, Athol, MA 01331.
