CANAAN, NH - Donald Clyde Marean, 77 of 810 Goose Pond Road, Canaan, NH, died Sunday, April 22, 2018 at home.
He was born in Worcester, on March 18, 1941, the son of the late John Henry and the late Thelma (Allen) Marean.
Donald lived most of his life in Hubbardston and Holden, moving to New Hamsphire 18 years ago after retiring. He graduated from Worcester Boys Trade in 1959. He received his Associates Degree in Tool Engineering from Worcester Junior College in 1967.
After his graduation he went to work for the Thomas Smith Company as a tool and die maker. He went on to work at Data General in Westborough for many years as a senior manufacturing engineer. He owned and operated the Marean-Taylor Company for 13 years. He recently worked as a machinist for several local New Hampshire machine shops.
He was a member of the National Rifle Association. Donald enjoyed spending time on the family farm in Hubbardston. He was always willing to help others, had the gift of gab, loved the outdoors, hunting and fishing on Goose Pond in New Hampshire. He was an avid Red Sox fan and cherished time spent with his family and his grandchildren and great granddaughter.
He leaves two daughters, Heidi Marean of Hubbardston, Heather Kenney and her husband Joseph of Holden; two sons, Todd Marean of Holden, Matthew Marean and his wife Kerrin Westerlind of Hubbardston; two sisters, Barbara Hubbard of Hubardston, Susan Flagg of Hubbardston; eight grandchildren; one great granddaughter and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeased by his identical twin brother, David Marean.
Funeral services will be held Friday, May 4, 2018 at 12:00 pm in the Lamoureux-Smith & Poliks, 105 Central St., Gardner. Burial will follow in Rural Glenn Cemetery.
Calling hours will be held Friday from 10 am - 12 pm at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made in his memory to First Parish Unitarian Church, P.O. Box 509, Hubbardston, MA 01452.
