GARDNER - Donald B. Mellitt, 79 of 255 Baker Street, Gardner, died Wednesday, April 3, 2013 in Gardner. He was born in Fitchburg, on February 28, 1934, the son of the late Peter W. and the late Mabel I. (Paradise) Mellitt. Donald grew up in Fitchburg and received his GED from Mount Wachusett Community College in 1991.   Mr. Mellitt was a veteran of the Korean War serving in the U.S. Navy. He was employed at the former Collier-Keyworth Company and also worked for the City of Gardner Parks Department. Donald was a member of the Gardner Lodge of Elks, West End Beagle Club, Gardner Eagles, Gardner V.F.W., PACC, Turnpike Rod & Gun Club and the Gardner Fish & Gun Club.   He enjoyed fishing and taking tips to Foxwoods. He leaves three daughters, Kathleen Cremin and her husband Gerry of Athol, Robyn Soucy and her companion John Smith of Gardner, Donna Bouchard and her husband Dwayne of Gardner; two sons, Michael Mellitt of Gardner, David Mellitt of Gardner; five grandchildren, Amber Mellitt, Michael Fredette, Jessica Fredette, Richard Soucy, Dylan Bouchard and seven great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his son, William Mellitt who died in 2005. Funeral services will be held Sunday, April 7, 2013 at 4:00 pm in the Mack Funeral Home, 91 Vernon St., Gardner.  A graveside service will be held Monday, April 8, 2013 at 10:00 am in St. Bernard's Cemetery, 252 Boutelle St., Fitchburg. Calling hours will be held Sunday, April 7, 2013, from 1 to 4 pm at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made in his memory to American Heart Association, 20 Speen St., Framingham, MA 0170.
