ATHOL - Doris E. Brown, 88, of 195 Orange St., Athol, died Thursday, May 26, 2016 in the Leominster Hospital. She was born in Putnam, CT, on March 18, 1928, the daughter of the late Victor and the late Aldea (Sabourin) Scott. Doris lived in the Willimantic, CT from the mid 60's to 1980 moving to Athol. She co-owned Brown's Market with her husband, John, in the mid 80’s before retiring. In the early 90's, Doris was recognized by the Salvation Army in a parade in her honor for her many years of dedicated service. She leaves one son: John W Brown Jr. of Fitchburg; three daughters: Doris Hamilton and her husband Steve of Athol, Jenny Ingles of Willimantic, CT, Joan Obery and her husband Robert of Tucson, AZ; one sister: Alice Bailargeon of FL; eight grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband John W. Brown. Graveside services will be held Saturday, June 11, 2016 at 10:00 am in Silver Lake Cemetery, Silver Lake St., Athol. No calling hours are scheduled.
