PHILLIPSTON - Doris E. (Blake) Hill, 96 of 205 Baldwinville Rd., Phillipston, died Wednesday, October 10, 2007 in the Baldwinville Nursing Home.
She was born in Waterville, MA, on January 13, 1911, the daughter of the late Frank and the late Nora (Surprise) Blake.
She was the oldest living resident residing in Phillipston.
She was employed at the L.S. Starrett Company for many years retiring as foreperson of Department 8.
She was a member of the Phillipston Congregational Church and a member of the Ladies Benevelent Society of the church. She was a member of the Jumptown Twirlers a square dance club, she taught dancing to children in her home for many years. She was a member of the Starrett Bowling Team for many years. She loved to make May baskets and taught this skill to many children over the years. She loved horses, her flower gardens and hosted weekly card games.
She lived life to the fullest and loved family gatherings. She was an excellent cook and baker, baking her last cake from scratch this past Monday before being stricken ill. She enjoyed painting, was a member of the Red Hat Society, past President of the Athol Golden Ages and she started the Campfire Girls in Phillipston.
She leaves her husband forty seven years; Reino W. Hill; two daughters, Vurla O'Hara and her husband Richard of E. Falmouth, Gloria Whitman of Phillipston; one son, Kenneth E. Buzzell and his wife Peggy of Templeton; a step-son, Reino "Butch" Hill Jr. of CA; twenty-three grandchildren, thirty-seven great grandchildren and thirteen great great grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her daughter Judith Johnson, by two grandchildren and by two brothers Ernest Blake and Frank Blake.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 13, 2007 at 11:00 am in the Phillipston Congregational Church, On The Common, Phillipston. Burial will follow in Lower Cemetery.
Calling hours will be held Saturday, October 13, 2007, from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the Phillipston Congregational Church.
