ATHOL - Dorothy "Dottie" H. (Thompson) Fletcher, 72 of 47 McGregor Street, died Monday, March 20, 2006 in Quabbin Valley Healthcare, Athol.
She was born in Athol on May 3, 1933, the daughter of the late Henry A. and the late Anna I. (Reed) Thompson.
She grew up and was educated in Athol. She was homemaker who cared for many local families and their children. She attended the Starrett Methodist Church. She enjoyed watching the Atlanta Braves baseball games and the New York Giants Football games.
She leaves her husband of 50 years, Lester "Gene" Fletcher. She leaves her family, Rose Vallin and her two daughters; Rosanna Vallin, and Elizabeth Jacobson and her husband, Marc Jacobson, and their son Asher Jacobson, all of San Antonio, TX.; two sisters, Shirley Horton of Orange and Marion Lukaszevicz of Orange; one brother, Robert Thompson of Clinton, CT, and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by three brothers, Clifton Thompson, Edgar Thompson and Allyn Thompson, and one sister, Madlyn Gray.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 25, 2006 at 11:00 am in the J. Edward Murphy Funeral Home, 137 Main St., Athol. Burial will be private.
Calling hours will be held Saturday, March 25, 2006 from 9:30 - 11:00 a.m. in the J. Edward Murphy Funeral Home, 137 Main St., Athol, MA.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions may be made in her memory to the Mass. Eye & Ear Infirmary Development Office, 243 Charles St., Boston, MA 02114 or to the charity of one's choice.
