Dorothy M. (LaVallee) Hanley

Leominster- Dorothy “Dot” (LaVallee) M. Hanley, of Leominster died peacefully on August 25th at Leominster Hospital surrounded by family. She was born in Charlotte, Vermont, July 24th 1922 and was the daughter of Arthur and Azilda (Roux) Lavallee. She and her family moved to Leominster in 1936. She leaves behind her daughter Jeanne and her husband Lionel “Sonny” Charpentier. She is survived by three granddaughters, Ann and her husband Paul Finch, with whom she lived; Patricia Caisse and Cheryl Gallagher, and grandson Robert Charpentier and his wife Mia (Tresaloni). She had eight great grandchildren: Daniel Finch, Kailey Vazquez and her husband Sean, Cody Caisse, Molly and Sam Gallagher, and Dahlia, Rosalia, and Sage Charpentier. Dorothy became a great, great grandmother in June with the birth of Camden Joseph Vazquez. She also leaves behind four sisters, Aline Infantino of Florida, Theresa Infantino of Hudson, Madeline Marcoux, and Marie Blondin of Leominster. She was pre-deceased by her husband Daniel, a grandson Daniel Charpentier, and a great-granddaughter Elizabeth Finch, as well as eight brothers: Elphege, Albert, Conrad, Paul, Andrew, Charles, John, and Herman, and two sisters: Rose Bardier, and Lillian Sears. She was the most kind and loving mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great grandmother. Dorothy was a music lover and enjoyed playing piano and the guitar with family and friends throughout her life. She was a devoted Red Sox fan and rarely missed a game.  An avid game player, Dorothy was tough to beat at cribbage or dominoes.  She worked at R&M Manufacturing for many years and was a longtime member of St. Cecilia’s Church.   The funeral will be held Friday, August 29, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 A.M. in St. Cecilia’s Church, 180 Mechanic St., Leominster. Burial will follow in St. Cecilia’s Cemetery. Calling hours are Thursday, August 28, from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M. in Simard Funeral Home, 14 Walker St., Leominster. Donations in memory of Dorothy may be made to the St. Cecilia’s Memorial Restoration Fund, 180 Mechanic St., Leominster, MA 01453.     $(document).ready(function(){ });
