Dorothy E. Ribotto
Athol – Dorothy E. (Sanderson) Ribotto, 84, of 31 Freedom Street, died Friday, November 2, 2012 at the Athol Memorial Hospital.
Dorothy was born in Williamsburg, Massachusetts, January 15, 1928, the daughter of Harry and Margaret (Carson) Sanderson and was proud of her native American decent. She grew up in Williamsburg where she attended schools, also living in Royalston and Athol for many years.
Dorothy was a licensed practical nurse and during her younger years worked at the Framingham Union Hospital and the Northampton State Hospital. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting and ceramics, had a green thumb and loved to outdoors gardening and camping with her family and friends. Dorothy had a big heart, she was and always will be loved eternally by all those who knew her. Her soul shined with the beauty and brilliance of her love and devotion. She showered us all with more love than we could have hoped or dreamed for. She was and will always be our beautiful guardian angel and will be forever mortal in our hearts. We love you mom and pray that your new journey in the heavens will be filled with love, laughter and joy. Dorothy loved her children immensely and over the years helped to raise 23 foster children and rescued countless animals.
She is survived by her three daughters; Lillian Stone of Orange, Beth Huff of Athol and Melissa Huff of Greenfield; a brother, Harry Sanderson, II of Orange; a sister, Marjorie Smith of South Carolina; five step-children, Shirley Ribotto, Richard Ribotto, David Ribotto all of FL,and Barbara Larosa and Florence McCassie, both of MA ; two grandchildren, and five great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was from a very large family and was predeceased by several brothers and sisters; her husband Bruno Ribotto and a son, Joseph Huff.
Calling hours will be held Tuesday, November 6, 2012 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Higgins-O’Connor Funeral Home, 146 Main Street, Athol.
