Leominster- Dorothy M. (Tourigny) Lapierre, 78, of Leominster passed away on Friday February 28, 2014 in the UMass Medical Center, Worcester following a short illness. She was born in Leominster on November 5, 1935, the only child to Joseph and Rose (Gagnon) Tourigny. Dorothy attended Leominster Schools and graduated from St. Bernard’s High School, Fitchburg in 1953. She went on to work for the former Tilton & Cook Comb Co. in Leominster and the as an assembler for Mylec in Leominster before retiring in 1980. She was a lifelong member of St. Cecilia’s Church, and a member of the Ladies of St. Anne. Dorothy enjoyed volunteering her time for the St. Cecilia’s Holiday Fair and helping to make Poutines for the fair. She enjoyed bowling, rubber stamping, spending time with family and attending shows at the Mount Wachusett Theater with her friends. Dorothy leaves behind her husband of 53 years, Henry Lapierre of Leominster, one daughter; Kathleen Hughes and her husband Brigadier General Daniel Hughes of Potomac Falls, VA, one son; Anthony Lapierre of Leominster, two grandchildren; Daniel Hughes and Kimberly Hughes, both of VA. Calling hours will be held on Sunday March 9, 2014 from the Simard Funeral Home 14 Walker Street, Leominster from 2:00pm-4:00pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday March 10, 2014 at 10:00am in St. Cecilia’s Church 180 Mechanic St. Leominster. Burial will follow in St. Cecilia’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that donations in Dorothy’s name be made to the: St. Cecilia’s Restoration Fund 180 Mechanic St. Leominster, MA 01453 or may be left at the funeral home.
