ATHOL- Earlon A. Ricko, 65, of Athol, died Friday, August 8, at his camp in Fitzwilliam, NH, after an illness.
He was born December 18, 1948, in Winchendon, son of the late Francis and Hazel Ricko. Earl graduated from Pioneer High School and went to culinary school. He served in the U.S. Army in the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged after serving for seven years. He worked in various fields including, refrigeration, logging, chef, and a DJ, known as the “Duke of Earl, Doctor of Stylesâ€. He was a lifetime member, and past Commander of the VFW Post 2577 in Ware. Earl was a very generous man and was very proud of his military service.
He leaves his wife of 20 years, Doris M. (Whittemore) Ricko; two sons, Gerry Ricko and Jason Duguay, both of Athol; one daughter, Felicia Fuller of Westfield; one brother, Ricky Ricko of Braintree; five grandchildren, Quintin, Dante, Wesley, Rozalyn, and Ayana.
He was predeceased by four brothers, George Druwniak, Richard Ricko, Charles Ricko, and John Red Cloud.
The funeral will be held Friday, August 15, at 11:00 A.M. in Fiske-Murphy & Mack Funeral Home, 110 New Athol Rd., Orange. Burial will follow in Silver Lake Cemetery.
Calling hours are Thursday, August 14, from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. in the funeral home.
