FITCHBURG- Edith M. (Luukko) Tenander, 89, passed away peacefully Monday, December 27, 2021 at HealthAlliance Hospital in Leominster. Edith was born in Worcester on September 24, 1932, daughter of the late John and Hilda (Ojala) Luukko. Edith graduated from Commerce High, Worcester, in 1950 and worked for Burbank Medical Records as a medical coder for many years. She was very proud of her Finnish heritage spending the summers of her youth at the family camp on Demond Pond in Rutland enjoying Finnish dances, singing, music and social events at Sovittaja Park. Edith was a long time member of the singing group, Chordells, a women’s barbershop quartet. She especially enjoyed the Christmas Holidays, baking and enjoying the time with her family. Edith also enjoyed summers and many saunas at the family camp in West Townsend with her family and grandchildren. Edith was a very proud grandmother of all of her grandchildrens' accomplishments. Edith is survived by a daughter, Lisa Cudo and her husband Ronald of Fitchburg; two sons, Charles J. Tenander of Laconia, NH, and Eric D. Tenander and his wife Lisa of Westminster ; five grandchildren, Charles “Chad” Tenander and his wife Maegan of Alton, NH, Calvin L. Tenander of Laconia, NH, Hailee S. Dubois and her husband Matthew of Ayer, Emelie A. Trayah and her husband Joshua of Upton, and Torrie R. Tenander of Philadelphia, PA; two great grandchildren, Charles D. Tenander and Owen R. Tenander of Alton, NH; as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband of 63 years, Charles A. Tenander; as well as three brothers (Eero, Edwin and Allan). A private graveside service will be held at a later date.
