Gardner- Edmund R. Popoloski Jr., 83, of Gardner, passed away on Sunday, January 20, 2013 unexpectedly in Heywood Hospital. He was born in Gardner, Massachusetts on October 16, 1929, son of the late Edmund R. Popoloski Sr. and Anna (Wiktorski) Popoloski. He was the beloved husband of Nancy (Stickney) Popoloski of Gardner, loving father of Kim (Popoloski) Alvers and her husband John of Green Cove Springs, Fl.
Edmund attended Gardner High School, class of 1947 and Fitchburg State College where he received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Education. He served in the Korean War. He owned and operated Ed’s Radio and T.V. in South Gardner. He also taught electronics at Mount Wachusett Community College for several years in the 1960’s.
Edmund enjoyed gardening and building model ships. He was a member of the Gardner VFW, Knights of Columbus, and Gardner American Legion.
Besides his wife and daughter, Edmund leaves his sister Anne Pilkovsky of New Hampshire and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two sisters, Theresa Skamarycz and Dorothy Lescord.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, January 24, 2013 at 11:00am in St. Joseph’s Church 358 Pleasant Street, Gardner. The family will receive friends and relatives one hour before, from 9:30am-10:30am at the Poliks Funeral Home, 431 Pleasant Street, Gardner. Burial will be at St. John’s Cemetery, Gardner.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Edmund’s name to St. Joseph’s Church Restoration Fund, 358 Pleasant Street, Gardner, MA 01331 or the GVNA Healthcare, 34 Pearly Lane, Gardner, MA 01331 or may be left at the funeral home.
