Edna M. (Roach) LeBlanc

August 26, 1927 — February 14, 2012

 GARDNER-------Edna M. (Roach) LeBlanc, 84, formerly of 27 Birch St, Gardner died Tuesday February 14, 2012 in Wachusett Manor Nursing Home, Gardner after an illness. She had lived in Gardner since 1952. She was born in Providence, Rhode Island on August 26, 1927 the daughter of the late Walter and Rose (Rainey) Roach. Edna was raised in Pawtucket and Barrington, Rhode Island and was valedictorian of the Class of 1945 at Bay View Academy, Riverside, Rhode Island.  Following graduation, Edna enrolled in the Cadet Nursing Corp. She met her future husband George when he was her patient and left the program to marry him in 1947 and start their family. After working many years in the recovery room at Heywood Hospital in Gardner, she resumed her nurses training, graduating from Mount Wachusett Community College and earning her RN in 1975. Family and children were her focus, even as her children became adults. Because Edna had a special interest in all children, she volunteered for a period of time for the Office for Children. Edna along with her late husband George were amongst the founding members of the local square dance club, Two Hearts As One. She was always able to “stretch” a meal to share with anyone who stopped in and ended every visit with “You know you’re always welcome, stop in anytime."  She leaves four daughters: Karen Heavey and her husband Thomas of Aberdeen, Maryland; Judy Wallace and her husband Bruce of Ashburnham; Laureen Peabody and her husband David of Gardner; and Christine Wallace and her husband Ron of Marlborough, NH. Also, eleven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren,  her brother Walter ”Sonny” Roach of Attleboro, and many nephews, nieces and cousins.  Edna is predeceased by her husband George A. LeBlanc, who passed away November 17, 2011, six days after their 64th wedding anniversary, their son David G. LeBlanc in 2007, her sister Ruth (Roach) Terrio and her brother George "Bud” Roach.     A calling hour will be held on Saturday February 25, 2012 from 11am to12pm at the Mack Funeral Home, 91 Vernon St., Gardner with a funeral service to follow at 12pm.   In lieu of flowers, donations in her name may be made to a charity of one's choice.  Burial is Private.  Mack Funeral Home 91 Vernon St Gardner directed arrangements.                             $(document).ready(function(){ });
