NEW SALEM – Edward A. Bean, 73 of Lyman, ME, formerly of Athol, died Thursday, March 17, 2017 in New Salem at his daughter’s house surrounded by his family after a long battle with cancer.
Edward was born on May 16, 1943 in Sheffield, VT to John Bean Sr. & Elizabeth (Burden) Bean. He grew up in Athol and graduated from Athol High School with the Class of 1961. He served in the Army, serving from 1962 - 1965.
He worked at the Union Twist Drill in Athol until it closed. He then moved to Fitzwilliam NH where he lived for 21 years, working for NH Ball Bearing and Markum. Upon his retirement, he moved to Maine where he worked at Wild Acres Camp Ground in Old orchard Beach as a maintenance man. He enjoyed camping, softball and bowling. He was a member of the Athol Orange Elks Club and the American Legion.
He leaves his wife: Suzanne (Jochim) Bean of Lyman , ME; two daughters: Debra (Bean) Desrosiers and her husband John of New Salem, Tarna (Bean) Bassett of Jaffrey, NH; three step children: Margo (Kenney) Best of NH, Kristal (Kenney) Porter and her husband Rick of Gainsville, FL, Eric Kenney of Athol; six grandchildren: Keith Bassett and his wife Mayra (Gutierrez) of Keene, NH, Shane Desreuisseau and his spouse Shannon Gray of Athol, Magen (Desreuisseau) Hamel and her husband Robert of Gardner, Justin Lombard, Josh Lombard both of TN; six step-grandchildren: Lindsey Barker of NH, Lisa Martin of Haverhill, Robert Martin of NH, Joey Adams of Athol, MA, Sandra (Adams) Bergeron and her husband Luke of Lyndonville, VT, Eric Kenney of Greenfield; twelve great grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his parents, sister Betty Radzius, brothers: Keith Bean and Ronald Bean.
The family would like to thank Brookhaven Hospice for their care and compassion given to Edward and his family.
No funeral services are scheduled.
