Edward Arthur Bettez, 79, of Gardner died Saturday, November 26, 2016 at UMass Memorial Medical Center. Mr. Bettez was born December 20, 1936 in Gardner. He is the son of the late Romeo and the late Regina (Quinte) Bettez.
Edward grew up in Gardner and attended Holy Rosary School. He served in the U.S. Navy as an Airman Apprentice.
Mr. Bettez worked as a roofer for many years and later in life he was a van driver for GAAMHA for several years. He was a member of the Gardner American Legion. He enjoyed fishing and playing bingo.
He leaves one son, Raymond Bettez of Orange; three daughters, Laurie Doddisch, Karen Deladois, Susan Bettez; his companion of 40 years, Lena Bettez; a nephew who he raised: Eric Lupaczyk of Gardner; two sisters, Yvonne Skamarycz of Gardner, Theresa Zbikowski of Orange; grandchildren, great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a son, William Bettez; by two sisters, Olive Prentiss, Antoinette Silva and by three brothers, Leon Bettez, Raymond Bettez and Gerard Bettez.
A graveside service will be held Tuesday, December 6, 2016 at 1:00 PM in the Massachusetts Veterans' Memorial Cemetery, 111 Glenallen St., Winchendon.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Lamoureux-Fletcher Smith Funeral Home (A Mack Family Funeral Home), 105 Central St., Gardner.
