ATHOL - Edward Joseph “Smokey” Duguay, age 88, died Sunday, July 9, 2017 at Quabbin Valley Healthcare. He was born April 8, 1929 in Athol. He is the son of the late Hyacinthe and the late Anna (Savoy) Duguay.
He lived in Athol all of his life attending Athol schools and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War from 1951 until 1953.
Smokey worked at the Athol Shoe Shop for 27 years, Athol Table Company for several years and Frederick's Rubber for several years. He also worked as a projectionist at the Cinema Theater.
He was a member of the Franco American Naturalization Club, life member of the American Lithuanian Club and the former Athol Rod and Gun Club and he enjoyed photography and fishing.
He is survived by; four sisters: Jeanette Capone, Mary Songer, Edna Mallet, and Laurenda Holmes all of Athol, two brothers: Nelson "Nussie" Duguay of Athol, and John Duguay of Greenfield, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is predeceased by his brothers, Richard, Wilbert, and Leonard and his sisters, Laura and Marguerite.
