GARDNER – Edward J. Jeleniewski, 90 of Gardner died Sunday, May 18, 2014 in the Legend Center, Gardner.
He was born in Gardner on July 7, 1923 the son of Joseph P. and Mary C. (Morze) Jeleniewski. A lie long resident of Gardner he graduated from Gardner High School in 1941.
Mr. Jeleniewski was a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Air Force.
He was a member of Holy Spirit Church, the Gardner American Legion Post #129, Polish American Veterans and the Gardner Lodge of Elks #1426.
Edward was a Police Officer in Gardner for 35 years he retired on September 5, 1985.
He leaves one daughter, Deborah J. Jackson and her husband Carlton of Farmington, NY; one son, Thomas E. Jeleniewski and his wife Carol of East Templeton; one sister, Wanda Deveau of Derry, NH; four grandchildren, five great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his wife of 59 years, Olive M. (Lamothe) Jeleniewski who died in 2005; by four brothers, John Jeleniewski, Alexander Jeleniewski, William Jeleniewski, Richard Jeleniewski and by one sister, Helen Yellon.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, May 21, 2014 at 10 a.m. in Holy Spirit Church 50 Lovewell St., Gardner. Burial will follow in St. John’s Cemetery, Gardner.
Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, May 20, 2014 from 5 to 7 p.m. in the Mack Funeral Home 91 Vernon St., Gardner.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made in his memory to the Wounded Warrior Project, 150 Cambridge Park Drive, Suite 202, Cambridge, MA 02140.
