ATHOL - Edward V. Morandi, 79, formerly of 560 Cottage St., Athol died Thursday, April 26, 2007 in the Baldwinville Nursing Home.
He was born in Athol, on May 24, 1927, the son of the late Angelo and the late Mary (Emannuelli) Morandi.
He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and for the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War.
He grew up in Athol and was educated in Athol. He was employed at the L.S. Starrett Company for forty years as a welder.
Mr. Morandi was a communicant of Our Lady Immacualte Church. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, mushrooming, gardening and spending time with his children and grandchildren.
He leaves two daughters, Diane M. Gauvin and her companion Timothy King of Athol, Debbie A. Pecoraro and her husband Joseph of Chester, CT; one son, Edward V Morandi Jr. of Athol; one sister, Esther Hoxie of Athol; one brother, Richard Morandi of Athol; six grandchildren Emily Gauvin, Matthew Gauvin, Michael Morandi, Jenna Pecoraro, Jordyn Pecoraro and Maria Pecoraro and one great grandson Camron Cloutier and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his wife Annette E. (LaChance) Morandi who died in 1999, by his son, Paul A. Morandi who died in 1980; by two brothers, Aldo Morandi, Ernest Morandi, and by one sister, Linda Cyganiewicz.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, April 30, 2007 at 10:00 am in Our Lady Immaculate Church, 192 School St., Athol. Burial with military honors will follow in Gethsemane Cemetery.
A calling time for family will be held Monday, April 30, 2007, from 9:00 to 9:30 a.m. at the Fiske Funeral Home 1356 Main St., Athol, MA.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made in his memory to Our Lady Immaculate Church - Building Fund, 192 School St., Athol, MA 01331.
